Kyle's Race - May 23, 2010

Thank you to everyone who participated in Kyle's Race. Close to $9000 was raised to be donated to the Joshua Frase Foundation, who does research on myotubular myopathy. It was an amazing event.

Art

Middle School art students in the eighth grade have been learning to use the "grid enlargement" process to turn small pictures into large, poster-sized pictures. After they completed drawing their larger works they learned to use acrylic paints as a coloration medium. Many eighth grade students have expressed their interest in taking "Art Essentials" next year when they enter high school. One advantage for teachers who have the privilege of teaching all grades (7-12) is the relationships they have formed with the entering 9th grade class during their middle school years. Both Mr. Spencer and Ms. Hammond are excited to see how next year's 9th graders put their middle school art knowledge to use as high school art students. The Art Department wishes all students a happy and safe summer. They look forward to picking up where they left off in continuing to build solid relationships with the students they have come to know. If students can't get to an art museum this summer, remember to stare at the clouds and look for shapes!
